How Emirates Airline Improved Passenger Experience with Sustainable RPET Airline Blankets

Emirates is one of the leading airlines across Asia-Pacific and globally.As part of its sustainability strategy, the airline sought an environmentally friendly blanket solution that could enhance passenger comfort while reducing environmental impact. Our company was selected as the manufacturing partner for this project.
In 2017, Emirates became the second airline customer to adopt recycled polyester blankets designed and manufactured by our company. Thanks to Emirates’ enormous influence and benchmark status within the global aviation industry, this milestone successfully galvanized the worldwide aviation sector to pursue environmental sustainability. Since then, recycled sustainable materials have become an essential procurement standard for airlines.
Each blanket is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, consuming approximately 28 standard plastic bottles per unit. The project spanned three years, during which Jetstar placed a total order of 3 million blankets, recycling roughly 84 million plastic bottles in aggregate. We maintain stable annual supplies to Emirates, making substantial contributions to environmental protection.
In addition to our long-term and stable bulk supply partnership with Emirates, we have also served renowned global airlines including EVA Air, Qatar Airways, and Saudi Arabian Airlines. Adopting diverse technical processes, we develop and manufacture customized blankets of various types tailored to the differentiated operational and procurement needs of each airline.
All Dotex airline blankets are made of 100% recycled PET (rPET) materials, which effectively prevent massive plastic waste from ending up in landfills. Manufactured with the mature and innovative ecoTHREAD™ technology, our products hold the authoritative Intertek Green Leaf Mark certification, fully complying with international aviation environmental standards and third-party sustainability verification requirements.

Full Production Process & Factory Strength Introduction

We own self-operated knitting factories, dyeing factories and sewing workshops, enabling us to undertake the entire independent production process in-house. This full-process independent production model ensures stable product supply and reliable consistent quality. Our professional strength and product quality have been highly recognized by numerous airlines and distributors, with whom we have established long-term and friendly cooperative relationships.
To achieve higher accuracy and precision in size cutting, we adopt automatic cutting machines for all blanket cutting procedures. Our production workers boast years of professional experience in manufacturing aviation blankets, ensuring standardized and sophisticated workmanship for every product. After packaging is completed, every single blanket will go through needle detection to ensure zero residual metal substances on finished products, strictly guaranteeing the safety and qualification of each airline blanket.
